Adconion Media Group, the global independent online advertising network which has established operations in three North American markets, today announced it has closed an $80 million Series C round of funding led by Index Ventures and existing investor Wellington Partners, the largest European internet media venture investment in history and among the largest for an independent online ad network.

Adconion Media Group, one of the world’s fastest growing online advertising networks, has appointed renowned online advertising pioneer Arndt Groth to its executive team as European President.

The Adconion Media Group is one more step closer to achieving its goal of becoming the world’s largest globally-operating advertising network by the end of 2008: five new subsidiaries have been founded worldwide since the beginning of the year, the number of employees has risen to 110, and turnover has significantly increased. The company’s growth can also be measured by the continuous expansion of the international management team through the appointment of Dr. Matthias Quadflieg (46) to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer in the beginning of November.
